Sustainable Deltas for Sustainable Living

Sustainable Deltas for Sustainable LivingResearch Project Full Title: Coastal SEES: Multi-scale modeling and observation of landscape dynamics, mass balance and network connectivity for a sustainable Ganges-Brahmaputra

Principal Investigator(s): Paola Passalacqua

Researchers: Teresa Jarriel

Sponsor(s): National Science Foundation

Full Abstract:   A substantive Coastal SEES study of the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna delta system (GBMD) that addresses several, largely unrecognized, knowledge gaps that are essential to successful planning for long-term sustainability. The project is organized around three principal hypotheses described below, centering on sustainability of the GBMD’s physical landscape and its human interactions over the next 50-100 years. Collectively these goals integrate across scale, topic, and approach to explore how the GBMD works in critically important areas and to semi-quantify its responses and change.
